We have received emails regarding if servers can be up and running outside practicals. Yes, we're happy to support you with that but please keep in mind that both machines are restarted from time to time and we need to monitor them to guarantee that servers are available.

To run the client application you need to use JDK 1.5 (and not JDK 1.6).

OPTION 1:
Check if the following folder exist from your terminal
/usr/local/jdk/1.5.0_10/

use the following command:
ls /usr/local/jdk/1.5.0_10/

if YES,

change the run script to include the java command from the above directory:
/usr/local/jdk/1.5.0_10/bin/java and follow the rest of the steps as in the practical

(or you can temporarily set the JAVA_HOME to point to the above directory)

ELSE (OPTION 2)

1. Simply download JDK 5.0 Update 22 from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.js (Linux version) or this direct link
   
2. Unpack it in your home directory on Linux.
3. Set JAVA_HOME to this directory (export JAVA_HOME=~/jdk1.5.0_22)
4. Change runClient.sh file to include the new java executable (~/jdk1.5.0_22/bin/java) or download the new runClient.sh file from http://www.trust-economics.org/maciejm/runClient.sh (e.g. wget http://www.trust-economics.org/maciejm/runClient.sh)

REST Weather Service URL Outside of Practical Hours

Due to popular demand for the server running outside of practical hours - there's now the Weather service running on both cage01 and cage02 servers (port 8080 as in the practicals spec).
